We've been at this podcast gig for close to six years now. But for the first time that any of us can remember, we've used our powers for good instead of evil. We're kind of jazzed about it. Here's what's going on and how it came about.
About two weeks ago, our friends at Veterans United got in touch with us and asked if we could help them get the word out about a very cool promotion. The Mizzou versus Florida game has been selected as the "Military Appreciation Game" by the Mizzou Athletic department. And the people at Veterans United are giving a whopping 2,000 football tickets away to active military personnel and military veterans.
We told them that we would be happy to mention it on our podcast and promote it on our social media accounts. I mean, who wouldn't? You'd have to be some kind of monster not to help with that, right? So, we did. We talked about it on the show, and posted something about it on Twitter. Soon after, one of our listeners, Airman 1st Class Andrew Snively tweeted back to us that he'd love to go, but couldn't swing the airfare from Hill Air Force Base in Utah.

We got to thinking. How much could a flight cost from Salt Lake City to Kansas City, and how much do you think we could raise from you crazy bastards that follow this show? We came to the conclusion that around $500 would get the job done, and we might just be able to raise it. So, we did what any podcaster worth their salt would do. We started up a GoFundMe page, and feverishly begged you all online to kick in.
And guess what?! You guys came through BIG TIME! The last time we checked, the tally was up to $590, which means that we could get the money to Airman Snively and after the GoFundMe fees, still had some left over to donate to the Gary Sinise Foundation!

So, now we're going to keep you posted on how this goes. We'll meet up with Airman Snively and make sure we support a troop by getting him drunk. Veterans United will also be setting him up with two Mizzou football tickets. He's going to get to see his family in Kansas City. Thanks to all of you.
We spend most of our time yelling and cussing at each other about coaches, and losses, and Pressbox Superfriends, but today my friends, we did a little something nice. We'll keep you posted on where we'll be in case you want to come by and have a beer with the Mizzodcast guys and Airman Snively!
MIZ!
